Welcome to Mount Abu, a charming hill station nestled in the Aravalli Range of Rajasthan. Known for its pleasant climate, scenic beauty, and spiritual significance, Mount Abu stands out as the state’s only hill station, offering a refreshing escape from the desert heat. With its lush landscapes, historical sites, and tranquil lakes, it’s a perfect getaway for nature lovers and peace seekers alike. Let’s explore the seven refreshing wonders that make Mount Abu a unique destination.

    1. The Sacred Dilwara Temples

Mount Abu is renowned for the exquisitely carved Dilwara Temples, a complex of five Jain temples built between the 11th and 13th centuries. These temples are celebrated for their stunning marble architecture and intricate carvings, considered to be among the finest examples of Jain temple art in India.

The Vimal Vasahi and Luna Vasahi temples are particularly famous for their detailed ceilings, doorways, pillars, and panels that narrate stories from Jain scriptures. Visiting these temples is a truly spiritually enriching and visually captivating experience.

    2. The Picturesque Nakki Lake

Nakki Lake is the heart of Mount Abu, a beautiful and serene lake surrounded by hills, gardens, and rock formations. Legend has it that this lake was carved out by the gods using their fingernails (nakh).

Boating on Nakki Lake is a popular activity, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. You can also spot the Toad Rock, a naturally sculpted rock formation that resembles a toad about to leap into the water.

    3. Sunset Point – A Spectacle of Colours

As the name suggests, Sunset Point is the ideal location to witness the mesmerizing sunset over the Aravalli hills. The panoramic views from this vantage point are simply spectacular as the sky transforms into a canvas of vibrant hues.

A leisurely walk to Sunset Point in the evening is a delightful experience, and the breathtaking scenery makes it a favourite spot for both tourists and locals.

    4. Guru Shikhar – The Highest Peak

For adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers, a visit to Guru Shikhar is a must. It is the highest peak in the Aravalli Range, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and the plains below.

The trek to the top is rewarding, and you’ll find a temple of Guru Dattatreya at the summit. The cool breeze and the expansive vistas make it a truly exhilarating experience.

    5. Achalgarh Fort – A Historical Citadel

Located about 11 kilometres from Mount Abu, Achalgarh is an ancient fort with historical and religious significance. Although largely in ruins, the fort still houses some beautiful temples, including the Achaleshwar Mahadev Temple known for its toe-shaped Shivling.

The fort also offers scenic views and a glimpse into the region’s rich past. The impressive entrance gate and the surrounding natural beauty make it a worthwhile visit.

    6. Arbuda Devi Temple – Carved out of Rock

The Arbuda Devi Temple, also known as Adhar Devi Temple, is a unique shrine carved out of a massive rock. To reach the temple, one has to climb 365 steps, a symbolic number representing the days of the year.

The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga and offers stunning views of the surrounding hills. The serene atmosphere and the unique setting make it a spiritually and visually appealing destination.

    7. Trevor’s Tank – A Haven for Wildlife

Nature enthusiasts will appreciate a visit to Trevor’s Tank, a natural wildlife sanctuary located about 5 kilometres from Mount Abu. This area is known for its diverse flora and fauna, and you might spot animals like bears, leopards, and various species of birds.

The tranquil environment and the opportunity to connect with nature make Trevor’s Tank a perfect spot for wildlife spotting and peaceful walks.
